Ran Wanli

Ran Wanli graduated from the Northwest University, majoring in Archaeology; and received the Ph.D.in Literature (Cultural History) from Doshisha University, Japan. And now he is serving as a professor in Northwest University.

He participated in the Japan and China joint study on the burial system of Sarira in China. He also directed the Sui-Tang Archaeology- Leading Academic Discipline project, as well as the Study on Image of Buddha and Temple in Chang’an Area of Tang Dynasty, which was sponsored by Shaanxi Foundation of Social Science.

His main research interests are Sui-Tang Archaeology and Buddhism Archaeology. His main academic theses are The Discovery and Characteristics of the Southern Gold and Silver Wares in Tang Dynasty, On Buddhist Utensils of Buddhist Sculptures in Chang’an Area and Report on Jiehua Temple Grottoes in Ansai Couty, Shaanxi Province. The great publication is Lecture Notes on the Archaeology from Han to Tang Dynasty.
